You can hire your tools and equipment direct from diy.com, with no hassle and one checkout process.
- Click on the category to find the product you want to hire.
- On the product page, add the tool to your basket (you can add other items for purchase or hire to the same basket).
- Checkout and pay. You will receive an email from B&Q acknowledging your hire. You will then receive call from Speedy Hire, on the same working day as the order was placed (Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5pm excluding Bank Holidays) or, if you did not place an order on a working day, on the next working day.
- Speedy Hire will on our behalf confirm the details and availability of the Hire Product(s), agree a delivery date and time, and discuss any special delivery instructions.
- On the morning of the hire, you will receive a call from Speedy Hire to confirm delivery day and time.
- On the morning of your collection, you will receive a call from Speedy to confirm collection time.

How do I hire a tool?
With B&Q tool hire it is really easy to hire a tool. Just ask a B&Q colleague in-store or select a product on diy.com and choose between a weekend or week hire. Once completed, you will be taken to the basket where you confirm and pay for your tool. The Speedy Hire team will be in touch with you by the next working day (Monday – Friday 7.30am – 5pm) to agree your chosen delivery date and time.
What details do I need to provide to hire tools?
You can use your B&Q account details and payment options to hire your tool. If you are not an account holder, you can add your details and payment options at checkout.
What happens if I damage a tool?
We understand that equipment can get damaged from time to time. Any damage will be documented by Speedy Hire upon collection but please contact Speedy Hire directly with your order confirmation on 0800 500 3993 during working hours (Monday-Friday 7.30am-5pm) to report any damages or issues accordingly.
Can I extend my hire period during the hire?
We are currently only offering tool hire across fixed week or weekend periods which means you can’t simply extend the hire period; if you require the tool for longer please place another order. The Speedy Hire team will contact you to make arrangements.
Can I return a tool to a B&Q store?
Tools cannot be returned to B&Q stores. All tools will be collected from the same address as they were delivered to.
Are there any delivery restrictions?
Postcode restrictions apply. We do not deliver to: ROI, IOW, IOM, Jersey, Guernsey or some post codes in the Scottish Highlands.

All our tools are checked by Speedy before they are sent out for hire and adhere to safety regulations, plus with our flexible hire periods and delivery direct to your home or building site there's never been a more convenient way to access the tools you need.
We have a range of tools available for all your projects or emergency situations. Flooding can cause huge amounts of damage in a short space of time, meaning water needs to be moved away quickly, our range of water pumps to hire can be hired for short periods of time and effectively pump away excess water from basements and waterlogged spaces. To help minimise long term damage a dehumidifier can be used to remove excess moisture in the air and to help dry out the space.

You can book your tool hire online or go into one of our 300 stores nationwide, where a store advisor will be able to help arrange for your equipment to be delivered to you.
*B&Q will match the price for Tool Hire when hired from a B&Q store against those from HSS, Travis Perkins & Jewsons. The products must be of the same specification and perform the same function. You will need to provide us with evidence of the competitor’s price in order that our colleagues can check the price at the point you place your order in store. Price match is against the total hire price of the tool, including VAT, delivery and collection and excludes consumables, deposits, accessories and/ or safety equipment (whether required or not). The competitors’ products must be available at the lower price for the same period of hire that the products are being hired from us. We will need to be able to confirm that they are available on the dates required and that they are available at that price to the general public, or where a trade account is required the price must be generally available to all trade members holding an account with that competitor. Price match only applies when hiring products from a B&Q store and not from diy.com or TradePoint.co.uk. We do not price match against competitors’ promotions/discounted products, offers involving vouchers or discount codes, staff or any other discount cards cannot be used in conjunction with a price match. For Tradepoint Members who have loyalty discount this will apply on top of the total hire price.
